About Chris Mcverry

Chris’ love of the outdoors shaped his life from a very early age, he has been involved with shooting and fishing for over 45 years which has given him a wealth of knowledge in many areas including wildfowling, pigeon shooting, vermin control (including night shooting), deer stalking, boar shooting and extreme long range (1000 yards plus) shooting.

As his father is a fanatical hunter, every spare minute of his childhood was spent salmon fishing in the summer, hunting during the winter and if they were not hunting or fishing they were preparing for the next outing, home loading ammunition or tying flies, a perfect apprenticeship to the great outdoors.

Having spent a number of years gaining coaching qualifications, Chris left his role as a Senior Manager at Landrover to work for himself as a full-time shotgun coach. During this time he was also asked to take up a position on the Council of the Institute of Clay Shooting Instructors, helping to deliver continuous professional development for shotgun coaches. This led to a position with CPSA (the governing body of clay shooting) as their Technical Manager at a critical time for the sport. The government had just announced millions of pounds of investment into sport leading up to the 2012 Olympics, so as the principle of the newly formed CPSA Academy, Chris was a key member of the core team preparing the submission which secured a financial award from Sport England for shooting.

During his time with the CPSA he also represented the sport in many different arenas including, BASC Research Committee, British Shooting Sports Council, and the British Olympic Committee.

Today, as well as still spending all his spare time hunting and fishing Chris owns and runs two shooting facilities, WCCC Ltd specific to clay shooting and Blackbrook Country Sports an 80 acre woodland site catering for all Air rifle and shotgun needs from training/coaching and practice, through to regional/national competitions.
